Re: scanners - which to buy?
Sat, January 17, 2004 - 11:13 PMBeing a Mac user myself, I really wish I could be of help here.. ^^;
But I stopped using a scanner years ago when I started using a WACOM for my work. The best thing I could tell you is to perhaps look into the Apple/Mac Warehouse catalogs, or to do a goodle on scanners. While you are only scanning black and white line art, to keep the edges from becoming jagged and pixelated, you'll need to scan them in colour with a high resolution--300 dpi, at the least.
In this aspect, what you'll need to look for is a high-quality scanner, along the lines of a photo scanner, so that you're not forced to redraw some or even all of your lines in an art program, or rescan a bajillion and a half times.
It's because of issues, and various others, that I went digital. I've lost the texture of certain paper types, but it's more than made up for the lack in the money I no longer have to spend on paper, graphite, ink, and scanner + upkeep.
Anywho, I hope at least a bit of that has been helpful... ^//^;;; -

Sun, January 18, 2004 - 4:12 PMI've only owned HP scanners. They are great. Definately look at their flatbed models that can handle the page size you're looking for.
