arisatsute.com/lucona_sketch.jpg
It's rather fuzzy at the moment, and very, very cluttered, but as the title implies, it's definitely only in the rough stage.
Any thoughts are greatly welcome; and yes, the pose is heavily inspired on a desktop from Boyis. ^_^
The clothes aren't so sheer as the sketch would imply, but the main body outline is there for ease of drawing out the clothes. Please, feel more than free to draw over this to point out any proportional mistakes; or even if you just have an idea of how to tweak her garb.
Thanks greatly in advance!

Re: Rough sketch, C&C before I ink?
Sun, February 22, 2004 - 7:35 AMoverall i really like it, especially the facial expression. a cou ple of suggestions tho, the nose seems big and almost pig like and her right (or let arm) feels a bit thicker then her body suggests (esp the wrist) and if the arm is bedding back away like the hand suggest, then the line leading down from the arm should be dominant over the line leading up from the forearm (opposite of what you have sketched) - i'd draw over your sketch, but my machine crashed hard and i haven't reinstalled photoshop yet... but yeah, it looks very promising! -

Sun, February 22, 2004 - 2:39 PMIt looks very promising. The right arm just seems bent at a weird angle. I really like the face and eyes. I can’t wait to see it finished.

Re: Rough sketch, C&C before I ink?
Sun, February 22, 2004 - 7:29 PMjust erase all of the nose and elongate and thin the right arm and you've got it.
also, what exactly is the right hand doing? the hand looks like shes leaning back and resting the it on something, but the arm suggests the hand is just making a waving gesture.
overall its very nice. -

Re: Rough sketch, C&C before I ink?
Mon, February 23, 2004 - 7:37 AMLooks good. Why leave out the rest of the legs/feet?
Pretty much what everyone else said. Also, are her shoulders shrugging? It looks like they are. -

Re: Rough sketch, C&C before I ink?
Mon, February 23, 2004 - 10:37 AMLike it. I think part of what makes that right arm (her right) look a little funny is that the forearm seems a bit short. If it were a bit longer, the motion would make more sense.
I'd love to see it when it's finished. :D

Re: Rough sketch, C&C before I ink?
Mon, February 23, 2004 - 11:52 AMWow! Thank you everyone for the commentary, I really appreciate it!
Tipatat -- This is the same character as in my art.arisatsute.com/images/2-4-04.png CG, and so I was trying to mimic the nose as best I could from a straight-on view. I see where you're coming from about the largish-look, though I'm hoping that'll be alleviated by shading and such, as I'm actually fairly comfortable with it at the moment. I agree about the arm, and I've tried to fix it as best I could, as shown here: arisatsute.com/lucona_inks.jpg
Chris -- I agree, and I've tried to play with it a bit, as shown above, though I'm going for an almost 'bound' look. I hope it'll make more sense when the piece is completed, but I'm aiming to have her look as small, frail, and helpless as possible to contrast with the background elements.
Scooter -- As mentioned above, I do like the nose, so I think I'll keep it, at least until the CGing. I think it's the small line at the top of the curve of the nose, just before the bridge, that makes it look so strange. I'll have to futz with that a bit. Again, mentioned above, it's to make her look a bit squeezed, or almost bound. I intend to put small flares and flickers of light beneath and around her hands, as she is a mage-type.
Mark -- I usually only draw portraits, so that I've drawn something with a torso is rather amazing. *laugh* I've never really liked drawing legs and feet. Largely, it's because I need practice with both, and it's also a good bit because I'm lazy. However, in this piece, I'm going for a very wide canvas, and so making it any taller and including the legs and feet would detract from the image I'm trying to get across. However, in the garb sketches of this character, I will be doing some work that includes the legs and feet, as I need to show leg-coverings and shoes, as well as the ends of the 'skirt' she's wearing.
inTRINsicalITY -- Ahh! I agree! I completely missed it! ><; I should have checked back here before inking! Sadly, I'm already to the stage of base colours, arisatsute.com/lucona_basecolour.jpg , but I'll definitely make a note to myself to really, really check anatomy before progressing so far again.
The current background colour isn't at all what the finished colour will be, and this is only a snippit of the canvas--basically, just enough to show the current progression of Lucona, since she's the focal point of the piece.
Again, I really, really appreciate all the feedback. You guys are absolutely wonderful, and I thank all of you for it ^_^ -

Re: Rough sketch, C&C before I ink?
Mon, February 23, 2004 - 1:14 PMWell, with the base color, it looks a little better, as far as proportionality goes. Overall, I like it.
I think once you've got her in a background, it'll really come together and look great! :D

Mon, February 23, 2004 - 1:43 PMNow I see it! The basecolor piture really let me understand the picture more.

Re: Rough sketch, C&C before I ink?
Thu, August 5, 2004 - 5:33 PMHentai style art is 'sweet."
When I look at how subtle the blue ink drapes across the white background - it's just easy to see how beautiful it is to look at someone's idea being worked on from Thumbnail to Finished Product.
I'm never too sure why art evokes an emotional response.
You felt something - when drawing her.
